THE SCHMIDT BOCA RATON HISTORY MUSEUM ANNOUNCES NEW EXHIBITION

The Boca Raton: 100 Years

BOCA RATON, FL (January 5, 2026) – The Boca Raton Historical Society (BRHS) and The Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum announce the opening of their newest special exhibition, The Boca Raton: 100 Years, on view January 10 through May 2, 2026.

Timed to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Cloister Inn’s grand opening in February 1926, the exhibition explores a century of history behind The Boca Raton, tracing its evolution from Addison Mizner’s original vision to its present-day status as one of the nation’s most celebrated luxury resorts.

A Members’ Preview will take place on January 8, offering Boca Raton Historical Society members an exclusive first look at the exhibition ahead of its public opening on January 10.

Featuring rare historical photographs, original artifacts, and design elements, The Boca Raton: 100 Years examines the resort’s succession of owners while capturing the changing décor, leisure pursuits, and lifestyle experiences that have defined each era of its history.

“The Boca Raton has been at the heart of our community’s story for a century,” said Olivia Hollaus, Executive Director of the Boca Raton Historical Society. “From Addison Mizner’s Cloister Inn to today’s internationally recognized destination, the resort reflects the growth, character, and spirit of Boca Raton itself. This exhibition invites visitors to step back in time and experience the glamour, innovation, and hospitality that shaped each chapter of its history.”

The exhibition follows Boca Raton’s own Centennial celebration in 2025, extending the city’s landmark milestones with another significant centennial moment in 2026.

Exhibit highlights include:

  • Original Décor & Artifacts reflecting Mizner’s Mediterranean Revival style and the resort’s luxurious amenities
  • Historic Photographs documenting the Cloister Inn’s early years and its transformation into The Boca Raton
  • Lifestyle Snapshots showcasing guest experiences, leisure activities, and the social scene that helped define Boca Raton across generations

Exhibit Programming

In conjunction with the exhibition, the museum will host a series of public programs designed to deepen engagement with the resort’s history. Highlights include a Town Hall Talk on January 15 featuring Susan Gillis, From Cloister Inn to The Boca Raton: 100 Years of Boca’s Resort, as well as Lines Through Time, a guided sketching experience on February 5 led by artist and educator Michelle Sherman. Additional lectures, tours, and special events will be announced throughout the exhibition’s run.
